I've now been given several fragments of Act One, and I've seen the entire climax of Act Two from the crypt scene through to the end. A full translation, with luck, will be on my desk today. Jim is getting this as a slightly belated New Year's present, and let me say, this is friggin' amazing! Any doubts I had are dispelled.
Reading these fragments, I realize something. The German was good as it was, so why did Jim change so much of it to recycle? They threw out the German completely as opposed to trying to articulate it! I wouldn't call them idiots, but this wasn't the smartest move in the book. Trust me, if ever this translation becomes public (and mark my words, it won't be through me), you'll be surprised and pleased by the quality.
Jim, this is better than good. You need to see this. With luck you'll have it today!
