Shallah, you posted some comments about me today which nobody will read because they are so far down the board. Therefore I am starting a new thread to reply to you.

I feel that you have judged me unfairly. I have no connection to Dean Torkington or his brother.

I have read some Torkington emails that are very uncivilised. But the latest one is quite different. I guess he is in a good mood at the moment because of his magazine review.

I had no intention of posting spam when I posted his letter. I am very sorry to Evil One for any upset or irritation that I caused him.

There were two reasons for posting the letter.

One was to show that old Porkington is not always uncivilised. In a good mood, he only makes a few spelling mistakes.

The second and main reason was because the letter included his review. Even if people don't like Pork, I feel that they should congratulate him when he finally does something right. He has struggled for so many years, playing dingy places and not getting anywhere. The opposite of Steve Steinman.

I feel that it is not good sportsmanship if we don't pat him on the back when he gets a review in a cool magazine.

My concern regarding Steve Steinman has nothing to do with being pro-Torkington. Vulvania has now said on two separate occassions that at least Jim is getting songwriting royalties from Steve. But this is not true because Jim sold his catalogue some years ago. He would only make money out of Steve Steinman if Steve were to put on a theatrical production.

I feel that Steve Steinman is not simply singing Jim's songs and paying royalties to the people who bought Jim's catalogue. Smeghead may be correct when he says that Steve Steinman is not going beyond a concert. But what a concert it is.

This is someone who changed his name and sang Jim's songs so that he could create a niche for himself in the market.

He now has a 40 piece orchestra, is calling his concert Bat Out Of Hell The Symphony, has raised big money for pyrotechnics and special effects, is hiring stars like Toyah Wilcox, is sometimes playing bigger venues than Meat Loaf and who is tricking people with his name.

Unfortunately there are people in the UK who think Meat Loaf when they hear Bat but who might have their memories jogged by the name Steinman. They will think that Steve Steinman wrote the songs for Bat Out Of Hell The Symphony.

Hopefully Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell The Musical will change that. Jim has done so many things in entertainment. He deserves to be publicly recognised.

I do feel sorry for Meat Loaf. Much more than I feel sorry for Porkington. He and Jim made the songs in Bat Out Of Hell The Symphony famous. And then Meat sees someone successfully tapping into his world, even playing gigs at venues just before Meat is scheduled to play in the area.

So he phones Steve Steinman to complain and Steve Steinman tells the press, to publicise Bat Out Of Hell The Symphony. He called Meat wacky and weak.

Smeghead may be correct that Steve Steinman is not doing anything technically wrong. But I can't help feeling that the situation is unjust.
