It isn't Jim's name that sells the songs, so it wouldn't be Jim's name that puts anyone off either. New acts are broken all the time, even moreso these days when pop/rock success is so transient, and someone singing a Steinman song with a decent production/arrangement would stand out from the crowd. I think it does Jim's talent down to suggest that the only way he can get a hit is to whore himself out to an established name. And, frankly, if I never hear another cover of Total Eclipse, it'll still be too soon. | |
