That's what I was told by someone who was dealing with the Apollo Victoria. As you know from Jim's blog (and I think it was Scaramouche who actualy visited the box office and asked them), a long time ago they thought that there was very good chance of "Wicked" closing and "BOOH" going into the Apollo Victoria. All these years later, "Wicked" is selling out and there is now almost no chance that "BOOH" will go into that grand theatre. I am not a "Wicked" expert, so I can't say exactly how they turned their fortunes around. It's quite possible that there was no revamp of the actual show but I seem to remember that the "Wicked" producers gambled on a massive advertising blitz at about the same time Jim was blogging. I believe that the blitz paid off and that there are now groups of fans who go over and over again. It is much much more healthy than it was when Jim blogged. Which is sad for "BOOH" because the Apollo Victoria would have been perfect. Although, more power to "Wicked" for pulling off something that many industry "experts" thought they couldn't achieve. BTW, you say that you have noticed little change. What change have you noticed and do you think that there has been any change as far as the nature of the audience goes? Just interested to know what you think. | |
