| Ok guys, I read many, many reviews of Meats shows the last few months, and the disturbing thing was that some of them praised it as the best tour ever and some of them said it's not worth mentioning. So I really didnt know what to expect. Were the good reviews just some blended fans who'd still say he's singing great when he's lying on the graveyard? Or were the bad reviews just some disappointed steinmaniacs still moaning about Bat3? As I couldnt really answer that question I decided to watch the show first and build my opinion afterwards. And here it is - my opinion: As objective as can be. I'll try to keep it to the hard facts: - Meat Loaf's isnt what it used to be 30, 20 or 10 years ago - On the other hand, it is much better than it was the last few years (I can only judge from bootlegs and other live recordings) - If you compare it to his voice on the MSO DVD (which comes closest to a Meat Loaf show, if you havent seen a real show before), his voice is 80% of that. - There were a few notes he struggeled with, epsecially with the Bat3 songs. Baab comes to mind. - Other notes were really breathtaking: Held out as long as on the MSO DVD, some even longer, and still as powerful. - He was off key a few times, but not really worth mentioning, as thats the matter with the live shows of most of the artists touring. - All in all it was really a great show. I can honestly say that this (the friday one, the whole atmosphere was better) was the BEST live show I have ever been to. For those of you who are still moaning and living in the past: Forget everything you know about Meat and/or Jim, go to the show and enjoy it as what it is: A great rock show that doesnt need to be compared to earlier shows. Go to the show, you wont regret it. If anyone thinks they can prove me wrong, please do! | |
