Forgive me for being really naive here, but what is the big rush, the 'dynamic of the website' if you will, derived from posting as aliases? You know, it pissed me off to no end to be accused by Susan of being all these nutjobs from her past. The irony of that is is the fact that SHE is the imposter, posting as different people. Which, thinking about it, is typical of the guilty to accuse others of what they have done. I dislike that woman more and more...whether she could help it or not.
Why having a singular identity on a forum like this is a big creative roadblock, I can't see. I guess if say Smeg wanted to debate himself to draw out a point, maybe. As long as it was a really pertinent JIM point. But honestly, if you want to post under an alias, fine. I don't always want my name all over the net, especially if I say something with perceived repercussions. But I've always been proud to support Jim, say what I believe and take pride in not hiding behind an alias to do so. I could NEVER imagine pretending to be someone else here--and as a 47 yr old fan, that might say something about my lack of internet experience, but anything I have to say I'll say it as myself and take my lumps.
I have no problem with Sturse's poster name taken in lieu of telling the world who he really is, but if he wants to cop 14 personalities here, I guess to me that's confusing and kinda pointless.
I don't mean to pass judgement on people, it's just that I can't understand the attraction of fooling people here.
A couple years back there was a strong stand taken against 'imposter posts' to the point Ryan was banned for pretending ( and not convincingly so) to be Desmond Child, in a pretty obvious attempt at humour, not malice.
Like I said, I'm not judging, I just don't understand why the revelation of IPs are a big deal.
