| Been listening to TMIL again lately (well, someone has to!) and I have to say that I absolutely love Meat's version of this song. It was the first version I heard of it, which I suppose can make a difference although that isn't always the case with Steinman stuff for me, but I much prefer it to Rob Evan's demo version. Yes, I realise that Rob's is a 'work in progress', but the slowing down of the song just doesn't really work in my opinion. When I first heard TMIL it was the only track that gave me that Steinman rush - it felt like something Jim might have done if he'd been involved, and I know he has said he thinks it's one of the best performances on the album. The rest of the Steinman songs I'm not that keen on - they range from ok (BFG, Future...) to awful (IACBTMN), but '...Pigs' is great fun. Just wondered what other people's views are - on 'Pigs' and the other Jim stuff on TMIL. Hopefully the whole 'Bat 3' saga is sufficently long ago and faraway that we can share our opinions on the Stein-songs on the album without having a flaming war. | |
