| In lieu of anything 'official', some more 2+2=5 speculations/musings on the Bat musical.... Michael Ball for Hook? Currently stealing the show as Edna Turblad in the London 'Hairspray' (saw this in February and he was great). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaD5nGpfJqI&feature=related Kerry Ellis for Wendy? Currently getting raves as Elphaba in Wicked (ironically at Apollo Victoria in London). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yq5sj-ohdXY&feature=related Brian May is also producing her debut album, due shortly (they've already released on iTunes, a great orchestral version of 'No-One But You'). Rhydian Roberts for Peter/Baal? If Jim's vision of Baal is still as per the 'Bad For Good' cover, I think Roberts is a deadringer? If he's also releasing his debut album for last 1/4 of the year, it ties in nicely with the Bat musical? Jim should try and get something on his album, from the musical? Ben James-Ellis for Peter/Baal? One of the contestants from last year's Joseph show on BBC1, but now excellent in London 'Hairspray'. What theatre in London? Apollo Victoria is booking 'Wicked' until April 2009, and likely to extend. Theatre Royal Drury Lane is losing 'Lord of the Rings', but 'Oliver' is moving in from December 2008. Palladium has 'Sound of Music' until the end of 2008, so maybe here? Can't see 'Spamalot' lasting much beyond 2008, so maybe at the Palace? Unlikely (due to ENO) but London Colliseum would be a great venue; my favourite London theatre. I can't see 'Bat' happening in late 2008 now, nor early 2009; I'm thinking Summer 2009 onwards? If a 'concept' album doesn't materialise, hope Jim produces a studio version of at least one song from the show, and get's it released in advance, in an attempt to do another Boyzone. If the London show does well, and judging from Jim's descriptions, I can see 'Bat' being more suited to a run in Vegas than Broadway? | |
