Well first off my view is ban all firearms, shotguns, air rifles, bb guns, crossbows, slingshots, 'imitation' firearms etc etc.

They are NOT needed in the hands of the 'general public'.

The only organisations that should use firearms (that I can think of) are Police, Armed Forces, Security Companies etc.

I think they call it the 'National Rifle Association' in the States, and their politics stinks.

Everyone has the so-called 'right' to defend themselves, although I would call it more of a 'natural instinct' than a 'right', but I don't believe that defence should be with a firearm.

Incidentally, there is far too much bollocks about 'rights' in this world.

I don't like so-called 'hunting' at all. Some twat thinking he's Rambo in an orange jacket stalks and kills a defenceless deer (or any other animal), before sticking it on the hood of his car. Yeah nice one numb nuts!!

In regards target shooting or 'sport', you don't need to have such powerful firearms, if firearms at all.

Absolutely! From a mental, physical & common sense point of view, I wouldn't trust 99% of the population with a firearm (including myself).

So-called 'legal firearms' get it to the hands of all the wrong people...the abused & unstable housewife, the vicious drug dealer, the desparate addict, the kid searching through his old man's closet etc etc).

How many times have you heard some idiot say 'it just went off', 'I didn't know it was loaded', 'I just meant to frighten them' etc etc.

Anyone that uses a firearm needs a ton of training, which is forever ongoing.

I know that UK Police firearms team members are initially selected for their ability to handle pressure (observed for several years before an application to get on the team is even accepted). They then spend around 6 months training, before going on active duty, and are then continually assessed and tested whilst on the team.

I do:

1. I have a 'lock 'em up and throw away the key' mentality, as per Alan Sugar. THE answer (for all types of crime) is to build a lot more prisons and dish out much stiffer sentences.

Possession of an illegal firearm is a minimum 10 years.
Firing an illegal firearm is a minimum 15 years.
Injuring someone with a firearm is a minimum 20 years.
Murder with a firearm is life inside (ie - you die inside).

BTW - I don't believe in the death penalty.

2. Sentencing should mean what it says. If you get 12 years, you serve 12 years, none of this 'time off for good behaviour' bollocks. If you behave inside you are rewarded by just serving your 12 years. If you misbehave you serve additional time beyond the 12 years.

3. A strict limit on the manufacture of firearms each year. I believe there are around 900 million firearms currently in the world, and yet more are made every day. WTF!

The corrupt can make their money from prison construction, not firearms.

That ends this party political broadcast on behalf of the the Scaramouche party.
