JIM STEINMAN’S
BAT OUT OF HELL
A NEW MUSICAL SPECTACULAR

BAT OUT OF HELL
YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH (HOT SUMMER NIGHT)
HEAVEN CAN WAIT
ALL REVVED UP WITH NO PLACE TO GO
TWO OUT OF THREE AIN’T BAD
PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
I’D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE (BUT I WON’T DO THAT)
LIFE IS A LEMON AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK
ROCK AND ROLL DREAMS COME THROUGH
OUT OF THE FRYING PAN (AND INTO THE FIRE)
OBJECTS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR*
EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE
LOST BOYS AND GOLDEN GIRLS
WHO NEEDS THE YOUNG?
WHAT PART OF MY BODY HURTS THE MOST
WE’RE STILL THE CHILDREN WE ONCE WERE

* Yes, “OBJECTS IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR…” has already been recycled into “Tanz” but so has “WHO NEEDS THE YOUNG?” in the crypt sequence and Andrew Lloyd Webber recycled the main song from “The Beautiful Game” back into “The Phantom of the Opera” sequel. Plus, to me, although the music is the same, the lyrics are almost completely different in tone, feel and narrative.

Note also: I didn’t include any of the “Batman” material with the exception of “Still the Children” which really does belong more to the story of “Neverland”, my opinion. The “Batman” material should be kept for “Batman” and Jim (or Scaramouche) could write a greater finale, i.e. “Dark entwined with darkness”. I know “Batman” is cancelled but you never really know what might be on the table if “Bat…” succeeds. I KNOW I said I didn’t mind if “Objects…” was recycled but that’s only 2 motifs from “Tanz…” as far as I’m aware. An exception here and there can’t hurt?

Bottom line, I think Jim should use this opportunity to focus on the most famous “Bat” songs in a theatrical setting like he’s always want to? Leave the new material for something else, e.g. Bat: Conclusions or maybe even “Bat out of Hell: Angels Arise” starring Bryn Terfel, Sarah Brightman, Nightwish and the London Philharmonic…

One can dream (engine.)
