| This has to be the most bizarre TV show line-up ever invented ... a celebrity reality show with pop singers learning to sing opera, hosted by a gardening presenter and judged by Meat Loaf and an interior designer ... "Coronation Street star Kym Marsh is one of the eight celebrities who will be bidding for opera stardom in a new show, claims a report. The actress, who plays Michelle Connor in the Manchester soap, will be participating in the new reality show Popstar to Operastar in January. She will compete against Blur singer Alex James, Bernie Nolan, McFly's Danny Jones, ex-Pop Idol star Darius Danesh, Shakespeare's Sister's Marcella Detroit, Jimmy Osmond and Vanessa White from girl band The Saturdays in the new singing contest, says the Daily Mirror. The show will feature the pop stars learning how to perform famous operatic arias and will involve the celebrity performers learning to sing in a foreign language for the first time. The artists will be mentored by opera singers Katherine Jenkins and tenor Rolando Villazon. However, the contestants will be judged by a panel comprising rock legend Meat Loaf and Classic FM DJ Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. A source told the newspaper: "Thanks to Paul Potts, Rhydian and Il Divo, classical music is at the top of the charts. "But can just anyone turn into a tremendous tenor or stunning soprano?"
