| It's like waiting for a bus -- you wait all year for some decent music to be released and then all of a sudden BAM. it never rains but pours. Pretty much everyone I like / love have done great things in the last month / coming very very soon: Thenewno2 (George Harrison's son Dhani) have a fantastic debut album out. It's folk synth, it's earthen electronica, it's Neil Young meets Goldfrapp. It's a cross between George Harrison and something I've never headr before, it's fantastic! Queen + Paul Rodgers' new one is a REAL grower, a couple of real clunkers and some REAL shitty lyrics (which I'm going to attribute to Mr Brian May for the most part -- "the myths and the dragons of time will explode" wtf?) are thankfully in the minority and Paul Rodger's voice is capable of wonderful things I never knew. David Byrne + Brian Eno's new one is UNBELIEVABLE. Bob Dylan has a collection of rarities / demos / stuff that fell between the cracks from the last 20 years. I strongly suggest to anyone who hasn't already go get the free download from BobDylan.com. (It's a recording from the Time out of MInd sessions. The lyrics being an early working version of STANDING INTHE DOORWAY, the music being a very pleasant surprise). Jackson Browne has a new one. I love when that happens! Todd's new one, too. Is it even out yet? I haven't had time / money to go get it if it has been, the live performances I've heard so far are great! I feel like I've missed one I just feel like I've been showered in my favourite artists recently, after a period of drought. Anyone else having such luck, or are your personal favourites still in a lull?? :o) | |
