Although Simon and Garfunkel looked cool standing next to each other. Maybe its because they had attractive haircuts. I liked both MLOONAA and I'm All Out Of Love but I felt guilty because Air Supply look cheesy and the songs are a bit intentionally silly. They are so MOR. The melodies and the lyrics are catchy but so were the melodies and lyrics of David Cassidy and The Partridge Family. Both Air Supply and the Partridge Family have no passion. Meat and Bonnie are the opposite. One could put them in the Freddie Mercury category. People can be negative about Celine Dion but she looks a lot better than the little guy with the strange perm in Air Supply. And she has a lot more passion when she sings. Her songs are not always very good. This is what the music critic for The Standard was saying when he said that her concert was boring until she sang IACBTMN ("by the genius Jim Steinman"). Celine is very talented but she needs a great song for that talent to shine through. I think its a great pitty for Celine that she doesn't do more work with Jim. Her last album was so flat and dull. A Jim song could have saved it. I don't think anything can save Air Supply from being silly. Jim himself has told an interviewer that he didn't want to work with them. Can you imagine if they were given TEOTH? There's no way that it would be such a classic. Bonnie is much better suited for it. Jim poured a lot of energy into it partly because its a great song and partly because he was inspired by Bonnie (although I'm guessing about the last part). MLOONAA is much more gentle song and therefore more suitable for Air Supply. Although I think the song is better than the group. I agree with the poster who said: "MLOONAA was saved only by the strength of the song itself." | |
