Separating the Meat from the chaff

So Meat has posted on Twitter that they started recording with 23 (or 24?) songs for the new album, and all but 4 have since been discarded. Seems weird; I thought he was very excited about the material they had going into this thing. Anyway, they apparently have 8 tracks down and Meat and some guys from Shinedown are brainstorming for more songs. I'm not sure how well that bodes.

Is it time for Jim to offer Meat a song or two?

Would Meat even want a Jim song if it were offered?

I do trust Rob Cavallo's producing abilities. I would trust him with "Body." (I was optimistic about Desmond, its true, but with him I was pretty much only going off of a couple Alice Cooper records; Cavallo's got a much more impressive track record, I think, especially with "American Idiot" and "Black Parade" under his belt.)
