I'm never one to defend excessive recycling, but if the theory is that fondness, love, or just a heavy dose of sentimentality will sell tickets to the show, it seems to follow that you might want to use artwork that reckons back to the beloved album and nothing that distinguishes itself too much from the masterpiece.

I mean, Meat has put out a lot of stuff with the word Bat in it that you probably wouldn't want to take a client or loved one, too. If you drag your kids on holiday to see this show at the West End and have to hear from them about how daft and old all the songs are, you certainly don't want to leave the show thinking that you might agree with them.

I can understand why the show's producers went with an image that is indisputably authentic Bat Out of Hell.
