I have spent the better part of the past two hours seeking information, all that I could, about the highly acclaimed (even when correct) Rory Dodd, and I have traveled the web but only starting on this journey. I was inspired to spend this evening, this way, after listening to some fascinating excerpts from the 1978 live shows, and managed to hear some of Rory in the background. Hearing Rory, in a way that is guaranteed Rory, is the most elusive thing, that I believe I might ever have tried to chase down. One page linked to one resource gave a Page Not Found error....so I had to side-step it, on an often refered to music site. But the site did yield something interesting. There is a page which has Rory's credits on it....impressive....vast.....involved....but, not ever as a lead vocalist. Not only that, but being that he is always in a backup position there are challenges, but the pattern of dreams is this: That the isolated voice of Rory could be repeatedly meted out in recording after recording, thus develop the definitive assay of his sound. However, he is never the only backup vocalist, and where he is in most cases is also a vocalist along with Eric Troyer. The good news is that Troyer was not in the live shows of 1978. So, it is not necessarily an impossible task. I found something else that I did not expect, however, which came out of Canada during a web search, and it is atypical of rumors of its type, where someone attaches their own name to it, in July of 2001. Thanks to a cartoon site concerning some Raccoons, which tracks voice actors, there is a blurb mentioning Rory.....but all other information about Rory is not available anywhere on the site....strange? Yes, I think it is strange. But the entry is stating Rory's alleged but untrue prominence in "Total Eclipse Of The Heart". One might think that the source could be a Steinfan someone here might know, who also likes cartoons and in particular these Raccoons, so I'll just mention the information I found about this source, and see what you guys have to say about Ron Broadfoot, who is from Canada. Ron Broadfoot declared himself in 2000, a year before this entry using the same email address and no masked screen name, a fan of the heavy metal band "Death" since 1993. He states in this particular guest book entry that his favorite band is Iron Maiden. And, in the same year, also writes in the guest book for the website celebrating the country of Iran (iloveiran.com), announcing his love of Iran. On the "Death" website, he is seeking other fans of "Death" from "Albania to Zimbabwe". So, what is he doing with Raccoons, cute little cartoons, which have no visible thing to do with Rory Dodd, disseminating false information in 2001 there about the role of Rory Dodd on a 1983 Steinman penned and performed song? | |
