Yes, but because this literary term "christ-figure" is indeed "christ-figure" and not "Osiris-figure" shows the impact of The Bible on Western literature. We also have a term called the "Judas-figure." (See Ganelun in Rolandslied from 1200 A.D.)

I equate The Bible with a book of fairy tales. Great for teaching children about morals/values, etc. Strange to me that so many people in the world accept any religion and live by it. Either way, anyone who studies Western literature *cannot* deny the influence of The Bible (they don't have to agree with it, of course).

Speaking of which, I seem to remember reading somewhere that the book from which John Galt's namesake comes (Atlas Shrugged) was named by the Library of Congress as the most influential book in the US, second only to The Bible.

I guess this makes Ayn Rand a "Christ-figure"? (Only kidding!)
