The Christ figure was stolen together from a whole number of older religions, Osiris and Mithra for example.

The impact was mostly negative. More ppl were killed because of religious documents than anything else. It'd be better if the bible and assorted books would also be considered to be entertainment.

There's precious little about tolerance in there.

Followers of different religions are also satanized, women are put down, glorification of nationality in the old testament (the whole thing about the chosen people), the ramplings of Paul in the nt... Quite a lot of writings to put people down and keep them in the iron grasp of the high priests.

As you keep mentioning homosexuals, it's ok to kill them according to the bible. Must be something extremely evil then, lying together with another man.

How come that so many Romans were needed to arrest a pacifist then?

Quote is likely off, but "a man who lies with a man as he would with a woman is to be put to death" does sound like a commandment. And if someone follows the bible makes it legal for him to kill gays.
