It is true that Meat Loaf's voice has gone downhill since 2004. When I went to one of his recent UK gigs, I thought that we (the audience) had all been ripped off and that the promoter should have given us a refund. His voice was terrible. He's been ruining what was once a beautiful instrument since the first Bat tours back in the late seventies. Such an operatic voice needed time to rest. But he went on stage night after night. Thank goodness his original voice is preserved on Bat 1. For Bat 2, Jim had to use all sorts of tricks, including cutting and pasting bits from many different takes. By the time of Bat 3, it should have been all over for Meat Loaf. He should have retired to do game shows. But it is not just his voice. It is his attitude to Jim. He has lied about his contribution to the song writing process, he has taken Jim to court, he did the Bat 3 album without Jim's blessing and then tried to make it sound like a Steinman project by getting everyone in the "making of" documentary to go on about Jim (even though they had brought another writer in). And how did Jim react? With great kindness from what I hear. His feelings were hurt about Bat 3 but he gave Meat Loaf permission to do the phone ad and he won't speak out against Meat in public. I don't think Ray is much of a factor. > Ray has never said word one to me about Loaf.
