| Diane Warren has achieved a lot but I do sometimes feel that she is able to churn out songs. You can order a song from her and it will be delivered the next working day. With Jim, I get the feeling that he can only create very special songs when he is in the right artistic mood (surely this is why Jim refused to do an entire album for Air Supply). I have to admit that I liked Diane's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" for Aerosmith but I thought that her "I'd Lie For You" for Meat Loaf was an attempt to copy Jim's writing stlye and that it really didn't work. Even the video for "I'd Lie For You" is meant to be a continuation of the "Anything For Love" video. I'm surprised that "I'd Lie For You" made it to number 2 in the British charts. That must make it the most successful non-Jim Meat Loaf song. It really isn't fair that a genius songwriter like Jim hasn't won a songwriting Grammy and yet a professional songwriter like Diane has (and she has been nominated for an Oscar six times). | |
